Springtime Celebrations in Old Hutton: Community Spirit in Action

Spring in Old Hutton brings more than just warmer weather and blooming flowers. It marks a season filled with community events that bring residents together and celebrate the village’s unique spirit. This year’s spring programme kicked off with a lively village spring clean, followed by the much loved Easter Egg Hunt, and wrapped up with a popular monthly quiz night. Each event showcased the dedication and warmth of Old Hutton’s residents, making the season truly special.

Village Spring Clean Brings Everyone Together

Our spring programme got off to a great start with a village spring clean. A big thank you to all the volunteers who gave up part of their Saturday to collect litter, spruce up signs, and keep everything looking its best. Special thanks, too, to those who baked cakes and kept everyone fuelled with tea! While we were out, several passing cyclists stopped to say how lovely it was to see such care for the village, one even said he felt inspired to organise something similar where he lives. That’s community spirit at its finest.

Easter Egg Hunt Brings Joy to Families

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt was another highlight. More than 20 children took part, collecting maps and activity sheets before heading off around the village in search of hidden egg pictures. At the halfway point, they enjoyed a well-earned treat before making their way back to the public hall to receive their Easter egg prizes. Families were then able to relax with refreshments. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event, especially given the challenging weather.

Monthly Quiz Night Offers Fun and Friendly Competition

The monthly quiz also proved as popular as ever. Many thanks to Kate and her team for hosting another enjoyable evening, complete with pie and peas to accompany the brain-teasing questions. It’s always a fun and friendly night with just the right level of challenge. If you enjoy a good quiz, do come along, everyone is very welcome, whether you’re from the village or further afield.
